Location: Orta San Giulio, Italy.
My Experience: Located close to Lake Orta, Villa Crespi is a stunning property built in 1879 with beautiful gardens, arabesque architecture and a two Michelin-starred restaurant. The hotel is only around 45 minutes by car from Milan Malpensa Airport, while the nearest train station is less than 10 minutes walk from the property.
What I liked most about Villa Crespi was the service at the reception and the classical design. My room was lovely with excellent welcome amenities, comfortable bed, rain shower and complimentary high-speed internet access. The restaurant staff could have been more attentive, and the food, unfortunately, didn’t meet my expectations. The main chef wasn’t at the restaurant on the evening, as he had an appointment outside, and I feel I haven’t experienced the best of Villa Crespi.
The food was good and much better than my average meal in my travels, but I think it would have been a lot better if the main chef was around as it wasn’t as good as other restaurants I’ve experienced with two Michelin stars.
The following morning I had a good breakfast before the hotel took me back to the train station after a unique experience at their property.
Duration of Stay/Visit: One night.
My Opinion: Great experience.
